Promises are very important to me, and I feel that promises should be kept. This is because God has and will keep all his promises.
We read of Abraham;
“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.” (Romans 4 v 20 -21)
‘When I was a child, I was led to believe,
what was promised, I’d really receive.
A promise was a promise, always kept,
sometimes the same day, or after I’d slept.
As I grew older I wasn’t so sure,
promises many, but realities fewer.
Why is it then that the human race,
promises, then does its best to erase?
It’s so good to see you, please come again,
no invitation, their meaning quite plain.
I’ll give you a ring whenever I can.
I’m sitting here waiting, oh man, oh man!
Promises as biscuits left in a tin,
broken and crumbled – what a terrible sin.
Never promise if you can’t deliver,
don’t say a word if your not a giver!’
Let us always try to keep our promises.
